Teeth whitening is a process that gives stained teeth a lighter, brighter appearance. While there are products that can be used at home, none of them are as effective as having Zirker Family Dentistry handle this for you. This is not something that is as simple as visiting once and never returning. You will need to have a series of visits in order to achieve the maximum whiteness.
Unfortunately, everyone is not a candidate for teeth whitening. In most cases, yellow teeth will return to a white state without issue. On the flip side, those that have become brown will be more difficult to fix, and gray teeth will never become white again. Another reason that a tooth may not become white again is if the darkened tone was caused by some type of injury.
There are some side effects associated with having your teeth whitened. In some instances, people have reported an increased level of sensitivity. This means that eating hot or cold foods and brushing may be a little more challenging than usual. For most patients this situation is temporary.
Since the whitening process involves using lasers and/or chemicals on the teeth, it should not be done more often than Dr. Zirker has recommended. If your he advises you that no more visits are necessary, do not head to another provider to obtain additional treatments. Doing this can result in damage to your gums and the enamel on your teeth.
If you have stains on your teeth and you are interested in having them removed, you should discuss this with Dr. Zirker. He will let you know the best course of action you can take for your teeth.
